If you are one of those people who think positive thinking is New Age hogwash or if you have tried it and it didn’t work out as well as you hoped it would, then read on.
Positive thinking has been all the rage for the past few years. I myself have posted on it often on Instagram and I have even been on radio segments discussing the benefits of positive thinking.
So why on earth would I say it’s not the answer?
Simply because it’s not the complete answer. Positive thinking is amazing and potentially life transforming. It’s something I have incorporated into my life with incredible results.
BUT there is more to the equation.
Imagine that you found yourself with a beautiful plot of land. And it has always been your dream to grow a beautiful garden of tranquillity.
So off you go to the nursery and purchase a whole range of plants and seedlings. Succulents, plants that flower in the summer, those that thrive in the winter. You even make sure that you get those that do well in the shade as well as plants that are suited to light. Basically, you spend a massive amount of time, money and effort to make sure that this garden will look stunning.
Fast forward a few months down the line. Despite ensuring that you have watered and nurtured this garden to the best of your ability, you notice that it’s not thriving the way you had hoped it would.
You can’t help but feel disappointed.
Then you notice something. Something seemingly small but so vital.
You haven’t pulled out the weeds.
You’ve poured all this effort into it yet your garden doesn’t look anywhere near as good as it should. Why? The plants are fighting for their survival
Struggling for survival means that they just can’t thrive.
And unless you pull out those weeds, your precious plants will continue to struggle.
Your mind is the proverbial garden. Positive thinking and affirmations are the beautiful new plants you buy and tend to.
And the weeds? Well they are the blocks in your subconscious that limit you and stop you from living your potential (just like the weeds limit the growth of the plants).
See, no matter how much you tend to your new plants (aka affirmations, positive thinking), until and unless you pull out the weeds (aka limiting self beliefs, unresolved emotions, poor self concept, past traumas, etc) your garden (life) will never thrive the way you want it to.
If you have tried positive thinking before with poor results, then chances are you haven’t done the internal work.
What is the internal work you ask? Removing subconscious blocks that limit you and make it difficult to truly absorb positive thinking: limiting self beliefs, unresolved emotions, poor self concept, past traumas and so on.
Great, I hear you say. How am I supposed to do that?
That’s where conciousness-based healing comes in.
Through modalities like BodyTalk, NLP and techniques based on Neuroscience, we offer services that do just this:
Work within the realm of the subconscious mind to disassociate and release those blocks that are holding you back from living a life you love.
Have you ever tried affirmations? Did it work for you? Do you have any that worked for you that you would like to share. I would love to hear about your experience in the comments below.
